Jo & Jabba: I had real difficulty editing this video, as it needs to be less than 10 minutes for YouTube and it was nearly 15 minutes. So I decided to create 2 videos, the first one with all the good bits in and the second one with the bits that went wrong! Everybody can learn a lot from watching these videos. Jabba was the youngest dog on the course and it was my fault for assuming that she knew more than she did. The pattern was a bit too challenging for her at this stage of her training but she was none the worse for it. She had also never tracked on wheat before. I find the most interesting thing, that once Jabba got going and was focusing on her track she did not notice any of us anymore! I have put some comments on all of the videos.
and this one is part 2 (the bits that went wrong)
Sue McCrilley & Womble:
Looking at this video again I do now think that Womble indicated the acute turn. The problem was that the pole, that had been accidently left on the corner, caught your line, which appears to stop Womble and then he does not have the confidence to carry on. You handled him very well though Sue. You will definitely be at Banbury Trial at this rate, if not in the UD in the TD!!
Considering you have only done a few weeks of tracking training with him, he did incredibly well.
Lynn & Moss
Best track of the day, Lynn. Well done and keep up the training! TD at Banbury!
Ann Ferens & Lottie
Ann likes a challenge and you’ve got another one here! Considering we had difficulty motivating her to start last time, you have come on very well. Keep working on her general focus and she will make a very good little tracking dog – your second one!
Nicky & Rags
Surprise of the day!! What a super tracking dog he is becoming Nicky. Think what you can do with regular training! Definitely UD at Banbury you two!!
